Samantha Randolph – Beyond the Bleach
As an antsy teenager who hated sitting at a desk all day, Sam opted to attend cosmetology school through her high school way back in 2001. Starting as a shampoo girl at a local salon after school with a work permit as a 14 year old only allowed to work a few hours a week. Sam was able to get a jumpstart on her career by graduating high school as a licensed professional. Mentoring, managing, and training stylist brand new to the industry by the young age of 18 really put her career into overdrive. After 10 years at one of Pittsburgh’s local hair salons, Philip Pelusi, Samantha had celebrated number one stylist for sales and retail in competition with over 200 stylist. It was time for a change and more creative freedom so she took a job in the city with hope to grow her career. Back at the bottom Samantha assisted again as if she was days out of school until she was able to slowly establish herself in a new area. By 2015 she and her husband welcomed a son into the world and it was time for another change. This time looking for a small salon with a lot of social media usage, education opportunities, and flexibility with her schedule. In 2018 Samantha moved into salon manager position learning all of the ins and outs of the industry. Just a few months before the March 2019 Covid shut downs Samantha had made the decision with the salon owner she was working for to take over the space. Through the global shut down she worked away behind the scenes creating Beyond The Bleach. Opening the doors in June of 2020 with a full staff and plans to develop a super team lead to some disappointments. Unfortunately the pandemic had chewed up the industry and spit it put and everything was haywire. By September of 2021 Samantha decided she was burnt out on mentoring 1 on 1 for years and turned the salon into a studio for herself. Currently operating by herself Samantha says you never know where you will end up but right now spending time to grow myself is most important.
“for the first time in 18 years its just me focusing on my client and giving them the experience they deserve. I love educating and I think I will always have my hands in education but right now is about me and what is best for me.”-Sam
